We walk with you until you are ready to walk alone. You will find comfort and hope during your time in therapy. You will be able to use the tools you learn in therapy out in the world for a better quality of life.
When events happen that are out of your control, you can feel overwhelmed and fearful of what your future holds. Your relationships may suffer as a result. We strive to provide you hope during times of transition and uncertainty.
We love working with motivated individuals and couples to help create new ways of thinking, feeling and connecting in the world.
You will learn to understand the meaning of events in your life and be able to grow from your trauma and heal from your pain. Life will take on a whole new meaning as you travel the path of recovery.
When something traumatic happens directly to you or you witness something traumatic; it can cause lifelong negative effects on the mind and the body. PTSD occurs when these experiences become a part of your daily lives in the present.
Your trauma doesn’t have to control you anymore. This is your first step to taking back your POWER and CONTROL. You will learn to TRUST yourself that you can FREE yourself from your past experiences and drop any shame that you have been carrying.
We use a variety of methods to meet you where you’re at.
We work in collaboration with Psychiatrists, Dietitians, Nutritionists, Doctors, Naturopaths, Life Coaches, Acupuncturists, Yoga Therapists, Art Therapists and others who offer; sand tray, reiki, singing bowls, meditation, support groups, etc. (if needed or wanted) We believe that when we use a variety of approaches, we get you the maximum HEALING possible.
We trust that we come to our best self with the help of a STRONG, supportive community of people.
Couples who enter into Gottman Method Couples Therapy begin with an assessment process that then informs the therapeutic framework and intervention.
Assessment
A conjoint session, followed by individual interviews with each partner are conducted. Couples complete questionnaires and then receive detailed feedback on their relationship.
You will have the option to do the online assessment tool the Gottman Relationship Checkup. This online couples assessment tool automatically scores a relationship’s strengths and challenges and provides specific recommendations for intervention.
Therapeutic Framework
The couple and therapist decide on the frequency and duration of the sessions.
Therapeutic Interventions
Interventions are designed to help couples strengthen their relationships in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning. Couples learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and to repair past hurts. Interventions designed to increase closeness and intimacy are used to improve friendship, deepen emotional connection, and create changes which enhances the couples shared goals. Relapse prevention is also addressed.

"Before coming to therapy I was scared that I would be told that I was living my life wrong and that big changes needed to be made and made fast. But it was much more calm than that: Katie simply allowed space for my thoughts and feelings. She was kind and understanding even when I wasn’t with myself. - Graduated Client
"Sometimes I don't even know what to say, I just talk and he listens. I really like him. (Kris)- Client
"My fears before therapy were centered around the possibility of not coming to a resolution with the issues I was experiencing at the time. I was also afraid that I would be told there was nothing that could be done for me or worse having a diagnosis and medications thrown at me for the ease of treating me.
This wasn't the case, I never felt as if my problems were never impossible to overcome. She made me believe that with hard work on my part I could overcome the issues I had to live a better life, and she was right."-Graduated Client
“I would highly recommend couples therapy with Maria. I‘m learning a lot about myself and my relationship. She keeps it real and is honest.“ -Client
"Maria has taught us some skills that we didn't practice before. We have really been able to work through a lot of stuff."- Graduated Client
“I got resources to a pelvic floor specialist and got connected to a therapy group that really helped me connect with others and get in touch with my trauma. I have such a better understanding of my healing and I feel hopeful for the first time." -Client
